Computing

At St Margaret’s at Hasbury, we are aware that we live a technologically advanced society where everything is integrated with elements of technology. Through our computing curriculum, pupils are equipped with skills to understand the concept of computational thinking, as well as providing creative opportunities to help develop children understand how technology words as well as realising how technology can change the world. The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming and ‘tinkering’ with code. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content on a variety of software. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate – able to use devices confidently, and express themselves and their ideas through information and communication technology. We aim for all children to be ‘masters’ of technology, allowing pupils to use information technology positively, responsibly and safely.
